Q? What age dogs can come to dog agility classes?
These classes are not suitable for young puppies or dogs under 6 months.
We run Pre-Agility classes for total beginners which are suitable for dogs aged 6 months onwards. This involves low impact gentle training where we start to introduce the dogs and handlers to the equipment. There is no high jumping or full sized equipment used for dogs under 12 months as young dogs can damage bones and joints through excessive exercise. Most dogs reach maturity by 12-18 months by which time joints and ligaments are fully formed.
Once the dogs are old enough and familiar with the equipment we start to move onto the full size agility equipment.
If you have any concerns about the fitness of your dogs please visit your vet before coming to classes.
